For consumers, we develop connected solutions that support personalized healthier lifestyles, keep healthy, prevent or treat disease, and help people to live well with chronic illness, also in the home and community settings. As well as leveraging multiple retail trade models, we will increasingly deliver products and services direct to consumers, supporting longer-term relationships.

In hospitals, we are teaming up with healthcare providers in long-term strategic partnerships to innovate and transform the way care is delivered. We listen closely to our customers’ needs and together we co-create solutions, packaged combinations of systems, smart devices, software and services, as well as consumables that help our customers to deliver on the Quadruple Aim of value-based care, better health outcomes, an improved patient experience, an improved staff experience and lower cost of care.

China is very important for Philips. With deep roots in China, Philips’ products have been present in China since the 1920s and we set up the first joint venture in China in 1985. China is the second largest market of Philips globally, accounting for approximately 15% of the company’s annual sales. Headquartered in Shanghai, Philips’ commercial footprint in China covers 600+ cities, with multiple R&D and manufacturing sites and more than 8,000 employees.

With more than 1,200 professional R&D staffs, Philips China Innovation Center, dedicated to local innovation and providing support on global innovation projects, has becomes one of the four innovation hubs of Philips globally. Its focused research areas include imaging systems and clinical applications, AI-enabled clinical solutions and services, patient monitoring and chronic diseases management, air purification and quality sensing, and food nutrition science related to kitchen appliances.

Considering our local strategy in China, Philips is fully aligned with the strategic goals of the “Healthy China 2030” program. We are closely collaborating with the local innovation ecosystem to co-create digital and AI-enabled solutions that precisely meet the needs of the Chinese market both for professional customers and individual consumers by leveraging global innovation assets with local insights, aiming to help increase quality and productivity in healthcare. We want to achieve this by: delivering first-time right diagnosis and treatments; driving balanced allocation of quality healthcare, increasing accessibility and affordability to care; and promoting a societal shift to well-being and prevention.
